For Julia Michaels and Maren Morris’ live performance of GFY/Scissors on NBC’s late-night talk show, I was commissioned to craft the stage visuals, designed to heighten the performance’s emotional impact and create a striking, broadcast-ready environment.
Working closely with the creative director and VFX supervisor, I translated their vision into reality under a compressed two-week timeline. As the sole 3D artist, I handled every stage of execution: modeling assets in Blender (including procedural road systems and baked textures), integrating and optimizing them in Unreal Engine 5, and building a photorealistic environment with foliage, vegetation, and atmospheric lighting. I also designed dynamic camera moves to amplify the live performance’s energy.
The visuals were finalized through compositing and post-production in After Effects, ensuring a polished, high-impact result. By uniting technical precision with artistic detail, I delivered visuals that seamlessly enhanced the performance and resonated with both the live audience and viewers at home.
